UTDRO Alumni Reception at ASTRO 2024 in Washington DC.
The UTDRO Alumni Reception at ASTRO 2024 in Washington, DC, was a memorable evening of reunion and celebration. Alumni from around the world gathered to reconnect with friends, network with colleagues, and honor the achievements within the UTDRO community.
Our department Chair, Dr. Laura Dawson, opened the reception with congratulations, recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of our faculty and trainees at ASTRO 2024:
- Dr. Andrea Bezjak, Professor and Director of the RadOnc Residency Program, was honored with the ASTRO Fellowship designation (FASTRO).
- Dr. Jay Detsky, Assistant Professor and Associate Director of the RadOnc Residency Program, received the ASTRO Annual Meeting Abstract Award - Steven A. Leibel Memorial Award for Research Excellence and also given an excellent talk at ASTRO 2024.
- Drs. George Li (PGY4 resident) and Hanna Beacon (PGY3 resident) were recognized with the Poster Award.
Dr. Dawson also announced a transition within the department. After eight years of dedicated service, Dr. Michael Milosevic is stepping down as Vice-Chair of Research at UTDRO. On behalf of the department, Dr. Dawson expressed gratitude for his exceptional contributions during his tenure. We are excited to announce that Dr. David Hodgson will step into the role of Vice-Chair of Research this October.
Another highlight of the evening was the award ceremony. Drs. Laura Dawson, Michael Milosevic, and Rebecca Wong announced and presented the glass awards at the Alumni Reception.
