Research Day 2024 Presentation Guidelines

The information below is for the 2024 UTDRO / STARS21 Research Day Presentation Guidelines, which will be held in-person on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 10 AM - 6 PM EDT.

All Presenters

  • Event registration is mandatory for all presenters. If you haven't already done so, please register for Research Day here.
  • A Program Schedule will be available closer to the event, with your presentation time. Please make sure to double check that your information is correct, and request any needed changes at radiation.oncology@utoronto.ca.      

Oral Presentation Instructions 

  • Oral presentations will be 5 minutes + 2 minutes Q&A each.
  • Presenters are expected to use this Research Day Oral Presentation Template
  • In your template, you will see a Conflict of Interest Declaration slide after the title slide. This slide is required and must be used to notify the audience of any real or apparent conflict(s) of interest that may have a direct bearing on the subject matter presented. If not applicable, indicate on the slide “Nothing to declare.”
  • Your MS PowerPoint presentation due date is Friday, May 3, 2024. Please submit your slide by email to radiation.oncology@utoronto.ca with SUBJECT: Research Day Presentation - Oral Slides - Your Name (e.g. Research Day Presentation - Oral Slides - Indra Wang). 
  • Make sure you check the Program Schedule, when it is posted, for your presentation time.

Poster Presentation Instructions 

1. Rapidfire Presentation

  • Each speaker will have a maximum of 1 minute for their presentation, which is to include the main takeaway about their project. Consider this your elevator pitch for your digital poster presentation.
  • Presenters are expected to use this 1-slide Research Day Rapidfire Poster Template. Please do not add additional pages or information. 
    • Please do not adjust the template in any way.
    • The description has to fit 2 lines of text in 24 point font size in the space provided in the template (do not adjust the text box). 
    • This should be your key takeaway message. 

2. Poster Presentation

  • Presenters are also expected to make a digital poster.                    
  • Please use this Research Day poster presentation template.
  • Only one digital poster is permitted per student.
  • Digital posters are presented via a 55" standing monitors, aspect ratio 16 : 9 3840 x 2160 (HDMI).
  • All posters should be presented in a way that is accessible to any scientist as poster judges may not be content experts. 
  • Following the presentation, judges rank the abstract, poster, and presentation. 
  • Your MS PowerPoint Poster Presentation slides due date is Friday, May 3, 2024. Please submit your slides by email to radiation.oncology@utoronto.ca with SUBJECT: Research Day Presentation - Poster Slides - Your Name (e.g. Research Day Presentation - Poster Slide - Ishir Patel).
