Welcoming Our Five Newest Fellows for 2024

We are excited to welcome our five newest Radiation Oncology Fellows for 2024, who have recently joined UTDRO.

Dr. Sandra Ileana Pérez Álvarez
Sandra completed her Radiation Oncology residency at the National Cancer Institute in Mexico in March 2018, after graduating from medical school at Tecnológico de Monterrey. She holds master’s degrees in Medical Science from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, in Educational Technology from Tecnológico de Monterrey, and in Didactics and Health Sciences from Anahuac University. Her primary research interest is in clinical studies related to gynecologic radiation oncology, particularly brachytherapy. She is enthusiastic and grateful for the opportunity to join the Clinical Research Fellowship focused on Gynecological and Breast Oncology at the Sunnybrook Odette Cancer Centre.

Dr. Adwoa Asare
Dr. Adwoa Asare is a Clinical and Radiation Oncologist from Ghana. She has years of experience providing quality care to cancer patients with particular interests in breast and genitourinary cancers.
With a commitment to improve the outcomes of breast cancer patients, she is eager to enrich her knowledge in innovations in radiation therapy for breast cancer as well as gain clinical expertise in the management of challenging cases to provide personalized treatment plans and best supportive care.
Adwoa has a growing passion for impacting breast cancer care through research. She hopes to use the knowledge, skills and research competencies gained during her breast fellowship at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre to change the face of cancer care in her sub-region

Dr. Sean Hassan
Sean Hassan is a dual Canadian-Australian who trained in Sydney, Australia and is returning to Toronto for fellowships in Gastrointestinal as well as Paediatric and Central Nervous System Radiation Oncology at The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
He strives to provide compassionate, patient focused and equitable access to care for all. His research interests focus on late effects following radiotherapy and global cancer care.
Outside of the clinic, he enjoys spending time with his family including exploring the world through the eyes of his young daughter.

Dr. Oded Icht
Dr. Oded Icht received his medical degree from Tel Aviv University in Israel. After completing his residency in Radiation Oncology at the Davidoff Cancer Institute, Rabin Medical Center, Israel, where he served as Chief Resident, he went on to become an attending physician and Head of the Thoracic Malignancies Clinic. During this time, he also served as the Director of the Elective Program for Students and Interns.
More recently, Dr. Icht earned his MBA with a focus on Healthcare Innovations from the Arison School of Business at Reichman University in Israel. Throughout his career, he has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented his research at national and international conferences.
Dr. Icht is now a Thoracic Radiation Oncology Fellow at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre under the mentorship of Dr. Alex Sun.

Dr. Meenakshi Jeeva
Meenakshi graduated with a Master's in Radiation Oncology from Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai in 2023 and completed an additional year of senior residency in 2024. Her primary areas of interest include pediatric oncology, upper gastrointestinal cancers, and hematological malignancies. She is also passionate about cancer biology, neuro-oncology, and gynecological malignancies, and is eager to explore the fields of translational research and particle therapy.
She is excited to join the Gastrointestinal and Lymphoma team at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre for her fellowship and looks forward to the professional growth, opportunities, and overall experience of living and working in Toronto.
Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, reading, swimming, cooking, and listening to music.
