Dr. Ibrahim Alrekhais
Ibrahim completed Nuclear Medicine residency at Kuwait Institute of Medical Specialization in September 2017 after completing medical school at Arabian Gulf University in Bahrain. He completed a master’s degree in Nuclear Medicine at Kuwait University. He is interested in clinical research molecular guided imaging and therapeutics in oncology, in particular metastatic castration prostate cancer and metastatic neuroendocrine tumors. He is excited and grateful for Clinical Research Fellowship position at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
Dr. Laura Burgess
Laura Burgess completed radiation oncology residency training at the University of Ottawa. She is a graduate of University of Waterloo in Nanotechnology Engineering, has a master’s degree from the University of Toronto in Medical Biophysics and graduated from University of Toronto medical school. She is looking forward to her fellowship in CNS and breast oncology at the Odette Cancer Centre under the supervision of Dr. Arjun Sahgal and Dr. Hanbo Chen.
Dr. Adrian Wai Chan
Adrian Wai Chan was born and raised in Hong Kong. He finished his clinical oncology residency in Tuen Mun Hospital, Hong Kong in 2020. Recognizing how cancer care is influenced by law and governance, he completed a part-time Juris Doctor degree in the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2022.
Adrian has a passion for providing holistic care for cancer patients and improving health outcomes at the system level. He is very excited to pursue the clinical research fellowship in breast cancer and central nervous system tumour in the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
Adrian is readily drawn to the beauty of the nature. He often finds himself spending hours daydreaming, reading or listening to classical music by the sea. He is looking forward to exploring Toronto and the landscape in other parts of the continent of America.
Dr. Revadhi Chelvarajah
My name is Rev Chelvarajah, I am Australian and currently doing the Head and Neck fellowship. I completed medical school in Tasmania and Radiation Oncology training in Sydney, New South Wales. I then completed a Gamma Knife CNS fellowship in Brisbane, Queensland before moving to Canada. I enjoy salsa/bachata dancing with a guilty pleasure for bad reality TV. I look forward to the year ahead and would greatly appreciate any Toronto food or general travel recommendations!
Dr. Pradnya Chopade
I am a confident young Radiation Oncologist trained in the basics and recent advances of Oncology from the prestigious Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, India. A motivated oncologist with over 5years of progressive experience in oncology. An energetic self-starter and team builder, navigating high-stress situations and achieving goals.
Dr. Elizabeth Chuk
Dr Elizabeth Chuk obtained her medical degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and completed her residency training in Clinical Oncology in Hong Kong. Her areas of interest are women's cancers, colorectal cancers and palliative care. She strives to provide holistic patient care and improve quality and accessibility to health care. Elizabeth is excited to embark on the Clinical Research Fellowship on Gynaecological malignancy in Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. She is looking forward to expanding her clinical experience and further refining her clinical research skills in this opportunity. During her free time, Elizabeth stays active by cycling, swimming, exploring nature and she also enjoys reading.
Dr. Stephen Ciocon
Stephen completed his Doctor of Medicine program at the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in Manila, Philippines, in 2017. He then served as a postgraduate intern at Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center in Manila. Subsequently, he completed his Radiation Oncology residency training at the same institution.
His clinical and research interests encompass a wide range, including Breast cancer, cytogenetics, advanced radiotherapy, and 3D printing technology. Stephen is dedicated to enhancing cancer care in his country by establishing international connections, promoting early detection, and adopting evidence-based practices that can be tailored to Filipino patients.
Stephen will be joining RMP as a Breast Oncology fellow at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. He eagerly anticipates expanding his knowledge of advanced techniques in radiation therapy for breast cancer and managing complex cases. Additionally, he is excited to immerse himself in Toronto's vibrant culture, explore its landmarks, and delve into its rich history.
Dr. Ayah Erjan
Dr. Ayah graduated with honors from the School of Medicine at the University of Jordan in 2016. She completed her residency in radiation oncology at King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) and earned the Jordanian Board of Radiation Oncology in 2021. During her residency, she published several papers and abstracts. Her work has been recognized with merit awards, providing her opportunities to present at international conferences. She actively participated in teaching junior residents and international observers.
After residency, Dr. Erjan joined the neuro-oncology, sarcoma, and hematology services, where she acquired invaluable experience in special techniques such as SRS, TBI, and TLI. She is eager to pursue a fellowship at the esteemed Princess Margaret Cancer Center. This opportunity will allow her to enhance her clinical knowledge, skills, and proficiency in advanced techniques for CNS and GI sites, with a particular focus on SBRT and MR-LINAC. Additionally, she aims to refine her skills in research methodology.
Dr. Kurl Jamora
Kurl, hailing from the Philippines, completed his residency at the Philippine General Hospital. He will soon be joining the CNS site group at the renowned Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. His research interests center around optimizing radiation treatment outcomes, improving pain management for cancer patients, and exploring innovative strategies to enhance quality of life during and after radiotherapy. Kurl's particular enthusiasm lies in expanding his knowledge and skills in CNS Oncology and SRS procedures, with the aim of contributing to advancements in these specialized areas of oncology. He eagerly looks forward to his clinical fellowship at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, where he aims to make valuable contributions to the field while embracing the opportunity to explore the beauty of Canada.
Dr. Alborz Jooya
Alborz majored in Health Sciences with a silver medal at the University of Ottawa for his undergraduate degree. He completed medical school at McGill University in Montreal. After finishing his medical degree, he pursued research at McGill University and completed a Master’s in Experimental Medicine. He completed his residency in Radiation Oncology at The Ottawa Hospital. His research interests include novel stereotactic MR-LINAC based treatments of GI/GU cancers, and also social determinants of oncology. He is grateful for the opportunity and is looking forward to starting her MR-LINAC and GI fellowship at Princess Margaret Cancer Center.
Dr. Thomas Kennedy
Thomas completed his residency in Radiation Oncology at Queen’s University and his MD at McMaster University. He has previously completed his BASc in Nanotechnology Engineering at the University of Waterloo. Thomas is keenly interested in precision radiotherapy and the utilization and integration of artificial intelligence in radiation oncology.
Dr. Sophia Ly
I did my medical training in sunny Queensland, Australia. I'm here in Toronto to do a one year Radiation Oncology Fellowship in GI and lung. I'm originally from Toronto, so it's great to be back!
Dr. John Mohan Matthew
Dr John completed his MBBS from Trivandrum Medical College and post-graduation in Radiation Oncology from JIPMER, Pondicherry (Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical education and Research, an Institute of National Importance under the Govt of India). He did his Senior Residency at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Jodhpur and Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvananthapuram and is currently pursuing a fellowship in head and neck cancers, late effects and cancer survivorship at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
Dr John is keenly interested in the practice of clinical oncology, cancer research and training. He hopes that the opportunity to work with the experts at Princess Margaret will enable him to develop a comprehensive approach to problem identification and management to ensure best possible patient outcomes.
Dr. Annie McKean
Dr Annie McKean graduated from the University of Wollongong in 2014. She commenced speciality training in 2017. In 2019, Dr McKean was a member of the Radiation Oncology Trainee Committee and also was a part of the eviQ Breast Cancer Committee. She obtained her Fellowship in May 2022, with a successful first attempt of the Phase 2 exam.
Dr McKean has previously worked as a Radiation Oncologist at William Buckland Radiotherapy Gippsland as a part of The Alfred (Victoria, Australia).
Dr McKean is committed to education and learning for patients and peers, having provided radiation oncology perspectives for patient support groups as well as contouring workshops for departmental radiation therapists.
Dr McKean enjoys mountain biking, hiking, scuba diving and snowboarding in her spare time.
Dr. Abdul Mian
My name is Abdul Nafay Aslam Mian, but my friends call me Abdul. I was born and raised in Pakistan and did my medical school from DOW Medical college in Karachi. I moved to United Kingdom in 2013 where I completed my medical training. I have completed my Clinical Oncology training from Newcastle.
Besides medicine I enjoy exploring new places and the history that comes with it whilst indulging in their local culinary experience. I also enjoy weight training and I am passionate about cars my favourite pass time is looking at different specs of high-performance cars.
I am looking forward to meeting you all and being able to enhance my skills further.
Dr. Claire Rooney
Claire received her medical degree from the University of Liverpool in 2008. In 2013 she began her clinical oncology training at the Christie Hospital in Manchester, then moved back to her home of Belfast to complete training at the Northern Ireland Cancer Centre and North West Cancer Centre, Derry. She served as a Royal College of Radiologists Regional Diversity Lead for Northern Ireland as she believes in the strength of diversity and a culture of inclusion in the workforce. Claire has obtained a postgraduate diploma in Health Economics with view to enhancing the sustainability of the healthcare service she works in. On completion of training in Feb 2023, Claire worked as a Consultant Oncologist in Urology, Upper GI and Lung subsites. Ultimately, her area of interest lies with Head and Neck Radiation Oncology. Following the Dr Gary McGowan scholarship award from Friends of the Cancer Centre, she is delighted to be undertaking the clinical fellowship specialising in this at the Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto.
Dr. Daniel Tong
Daniel trained at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, UK, and his specialist interest is in lung cancer. His research interests focus on advancing radiotherapy techniques.
He is particularly interested in studying technical radiotherapy, including SBRT, and furthering our understanding of why cancers recur after curative radiation treatment. He also investigates how emerging immunotherapies can be used together with radiotherapy to improve outcomes for patients.
Daniel received his Undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto and was involved in research at several affiliated hospitals.
When he is not at work, you will find Daniel chasing after his two young children, playing badminton, or at church.
Dr. Nattinee Wattakiyanon
Nattinee is a dedicated radiation oncologist from Bangkok, Thailand. In 2020, she completed her specialized training in her hometown. Nattinee's passion lies in improving cancer care and advocating for equality in healthcare. Her areas of expertise include soft tissue sarcoma, hematologic malignancies, and gastrointestinal malignancies, and she is driven to provide compassionate and effective care to her patients. With enthusiasm, Nattinee looks forward to engaging with Toronto's diverse population, expanding her knowledge, and positively impacting the lives of her patients.
Dr. Harroun Wong
Harroun is a radiation oncologist from the Philippines who recently completed residency training at Philippine General Hospital. Throughout his training, he developed a keen interest in treating subsites such as the lungs, head and neck, and gastrointestinal region. Harroun’s ultimate goal is to contribute to the field by enhancing his skills and competency in conducting research, particularly focusing on projects with translational effects in low and middle income countries. He is incredibly excited to collaborate with a diverse team of professionals and learn from their experiences. When not in the clinic or the lab, he likes to travel, go to the gym, or eat good food.
Dr. Sondos Zayed
Dr. Zayed grew up in Montreal and graduated from the McGill University Faculty of Medicine in 2018. She subsequently completed her Radiation Oncology Residency at Western University in 2023. Currently, she is enrolled in a CNS and GI Research Fellowship Program at the Sunnybrook Hospital Odette Cancer centre affiliated with the University of Toronto. During her free time, Dr. Zayed enjoys scuba diving, hiking, boxing, and spending time with family.
