As with you all, I am delighted to be able to finally welcome the arrival of spring, as well as to introduce you to our first issue of UT DRO News for 2014! This last winter might have appeared to be quiet at UT DRO, but rest assured, our community has been very busy.
As you all know, we have been working diligently on the Execution of our Departmental Strategic Plan. The Road Map to 2017 is progressing well, and the Steering Committee is looking forward to reviewing the first draft of the plan. Following Research Day 2014 in May, we will be officially launching the plan to the UT DRO community. In the meantime, we welcome your feedback on any aspect of our strategic planning exercise through the Road Map to 2017 website.
I ask you all to join me in welcoming two new faculty members to UT DRO: Dr. Mojgan Taremi and Dr. Zahra Kassam, who were both appointed last month. In addition, please welcome Dr. Meredith Giuliani to her new role as Director, Undergraduate Medical Education (UME). Dr. Giuliani has taken over this role from Dr. May Tsao, who has been instrumental in the UME journey.
Lastly, I would like to congratulate the RTi3 Planning Committee for another hugely successful Conference. This year marked the 10th anniversary of our Radiation Therapy Conference. We welcomed therapists from across the country, and around the world, to celebrate the academic growth of the profession, as well as to sharing the inquiry, inspiration, and innovation in the Radiation Therapy community.
Enjoy the warmth of the season, while reading our 2014 UT DRO Spring Newsletter!
Dr. Fei-Fei Liu, UT-DRO Chair
