Head shot of Reem Alahmadi

Reem Alahmadi

Reem was born and raised in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, by the beautiful Red Sea. She completed medical school at King Abdulaziz University, and then joined the Radiation Oncology Residency Program in 2021.

Her previous experience in radiation oncology gave her the chance to work with supportive and incredible physicians to help patients in the most unwanted and difficult situations.
Being part of the patient journey in fighting cancer was always rewarding for her. And because she likes challenges, she decided to broaden her horizons, gain more exposure, and welcome new experiences by joining the training in Canada at the UTDRO.

Reem loves to always be active by spending time with family and friends, watching movies, playing Padel, cooking and of course baking which never fails to brighten her mood.

Head shot of Levi Burns

Levi Burns

Levi was born and raised in Ottawa and completed an undergraduate degree in physics at Queen’s University, followed by a master’s degree in radiation oncology physics at UBC. His projects in Vancouver included work in computational medical physics, Monte Carlo dosimetry, and designing novel patient positioning devices.

Levi then pursued additional graduate training in AI and worked as a data scientist and AI consultant in Toronto. He worked with consultants, accountants, engineers, and lawyers to develop data‐driven automation tools for clients across Canada.

As a medical student at McMaster, Levi worked on several research projects exploring the use of AI in oncology and in medical education. In his spare time, he enjoys long‐distance running, CrossFit, concerts, video games, finding new dessert shops, and taking care of Oslo, his golden retriever. He is thrilled to be returning to Toronto, returning to radiation oncology, and joining the UTDRO community.

Headshot of Ahmed Elsehemy

Ahmed Elsehemy

Ahmed was born and raised in Egypt, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in biotechnology from Cairo University. Motivated by his passion for cancer research, he relocated to Canada to pursue a PhD degree in Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at the University of Toronto. His doctoral research was focused on investigating novel molecular pathways and genes controlling the progression of brain cancer stem cells. His ultimate professional goals include bridging the gap between basic cancer research and clinical applications of breakthroughs.

As a medical student at University of Toronto, Ahmed’s interest in oncology was reaffirmed by his passion for clinical cancer care. He is excited to begin the next phase of his career as he joins UTDRO training as a radiation oncologist.

In his spare time, he enjoys playing and watching soccer (big Juventus fan), video games (decorated semi-professional Fifa player), traveling, and Kung-Fu.

Head shot of Colin Faulkner

Colin Faulkner

Colin, hailing from Guelph, ON, studied English and Biomedical Sciences at Guelph, a MSc. in gerontology from the University of Toronto, and medical science at Queen’s. He has a vested interest in the care of the elderly, LGBTQ2S+ health, and oncology. A hobbyist by nature, Colin spends his free time rollerblading, reading fiction, playing piano/violin, hiking, foraging, and taking care of all of his children (house plants).

Head shot of Alvin Qiu

Alvin Qiu

Alvin was born in Shanghai, China and grew up in Toronto, Ontario. Alvin completed his undergraduate degree at McGill University and his MD/PhD degrees at the University of British Columbia. His PhD thesis work examined epigenomics in the context of synovial sarcoma, a soft tissue cancer.

During his time as an MD/PhD student, Alvin raced in triathlons as part of the competitive team at the University of British Columbia. In his free time, he also enjoys snowboarding, hiking and playing the piano. He is incredibly excited to continue his training back home in Toronto and join the team at UTDRO.
