At this year's American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) Annual Meeting in Washington DC, two UT-DRO members were honoured with awards.
Dr. David Jaffray, UT-DRO Vice Chair of Strategy, was presented with an AAPM Fellowship. Fellows are AAPM members who have made significant contributions to AAPM and to the field of medical physics through research, educational activities and leadership.
Dr. Marco Carlone, UT-DRO professor, receieved an award for Innovation in Medical Physics Education for his initiative entitled "SIMAC: A Simulation Tool for Teaching Linear Accelerator Physics".
Similarly, UT-DRO was represented at this year's Canadian Organization of Medical Physicits (COMP) Annual Scienctific Meeting in Newfoundland. Dr. Marco Carlone ended his term as President of COMP and handed out awards to the winners.
Dr. Katharina Sixel, UT-DRO professor, recieved a Fellow of COMP Award. This award recognizes COMP members who have contributed to the field of medical physics through research and development, professional practice and education activities or mentorship.
