Meet a Radiological Technologist

Interested in learning more about what Radiological Technologists do and what it's like to study Radiological Technology at U of T / Michener?

Join us online at 7:00pm (ET) on Monday, November 21, 2022 to meet our panelists from Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (Barrie, Ontario):

Jennifer Oliver

Jennifer Oliver, MRT(R), Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre

I am a trained and certified MRT with an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree from St George’s University of London, England; part of Kingston University, UK. I have over ten years of working experience in multiple modalities including CT, MRI and X-ray. Shortly after starting my career I was promoted to a senior technologist, with special focus in forensics and Non-Accidental Trauma.

Having recently returned to Canada after a 20-year absence, I completed the requirements of CAMRT to transfer my UK qualifications to work as a Canadian MRT, and I am now a member in good standing with CMRITO.

Colin Hicks

Colin Hicks, Radiological Technology (MRS Class of 2024)

I am a second-year student in Radiological Technology and have spent eight weeks at Royal Victoria Regional Health Center so far. I completed a Bachelor of Science at the University of Guelph for Biological Science and Neuroscience before deciding to embark on a career path during the COVID-19 pandemic. This led me to an exciting opportunity at Michener and the University of Toronto to study Radiological Technology, mixing patient care, technology, and anatomy, which I've enjoyed a great deal. In my spare time I enjoy listening to many different genres of music, playing ultimate frisbee, and running Dungeons & Dragons.

During this live one-hour online session, our panelists will discuss the role of the Radiological Technologist, describe a typical day, and share their experiences in the profession/program.

The session will also include a Q&A portion as well as a brief overview of the MRS program and MRS admission requirements.
