This webinar is accredited by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB) for 1.0 credit.

As per MDCB regulations, those wishing to receive the credit must attend the online webinar on the day that it is held and complete a quiz afterwards. The quiz will be emailed to participants shortly after the webinar and they will have up to one week to complete it. 

In this webinar, Dr. Michelle Leech will discuss the importance of equity in radiation therapy-specific education for radiation therapists globally. She will refer to her experience in this role for both the European Society of Radiation Therapy and Oncology (ESTRO) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

About Dr. Leech

Dr. Michelle Leech is an Associate Professor at the Discipline of Radiation Therapy, School of Medicine, Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. She holds a PhD, MSc and BSc in Radiation Therapy as well as postgraduate diplomas in Clinical Health Sciences Education and Statistics.

She is the Director of Radiation Medicine Education in the Discipline and is Associate Director of Health Policy and Engagement in the School of Medicine. She is past Chair of the Radiation Therapist Committee within the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO). Within ESTRO, she is the Chair of blended learning at the ESTRO School and is a member of both the Scientific and Educational Councils.

Dr. Leech is the Editor-in Chief of the ESTRO Journal Technical Innovations and Patient Support in Radiation Oncology and is a member of the editorial board of 'Radiotherapy and Oncology'. She also contributes to activities of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), with whom Trinity College Dublin has a practical arrangement, particularly in the education of RTTs. 

Dr. Leech completed her Ph.D. in radiomics in prostate cancer.  Her current projects are focused on radiomics, management of osteoradionecrosis in head and neck cancer and educating patients and carers about radiation therapy as a cancer treatment. In 2020, Dr. Leech was awarded the Emmanuel van der Schueren award by ESTRO "in recognition of excellent scientific work, enormous contribution within ESTRO to the field of education and promotion of radiation oncology as a discipline".
