Recent Achievements by UT DRO Faculty

Congratulations to the following faculty on their recent achievements. Our faculty are among the leaders in the field of radiation medicine, and we are proud of the calibre of work that they produce. Congratulations to all.


Dr. Stanley Liu
Congratulations to Dr. Stanley Liu for receiving the prestigious Prostate Cancer Canada Rising Star Award ($450,000). Dr. Liu's work focusses on radiation resistance, molecular pathways, and biomarkers. He also oversees the OCC Biomarker Programme as part of OCC Clinical Research. The Prostate Cancer Canada Rising Star Awards are peer-reviewed and highly competitive. They recognize outstanding research scientists initiating a career as independent investigators in prostate cancer research. Congratulations Stanley!

Dr. Edward Chow
Congratulations to Dr. Chow upon publication of his randomized trial titled "Single versus multiple fractions of repeat radiation for painful bone metastases: a randomised, controlled, non-inferiority trial" in Lancet Oncology.

Dr. Jean-Pierre Bissonnette
Dr. Bissonnette has received a SIM-one Simulation Research and Innovation Grant for his study titled “High fidelity simulation-based training in radiation therapy: attitudes and behaviors towards safety in radiation therapy.” Congratulations Dr. Bissonnette!

Dr. David Jaffray
Dr. David Jaffray has been awarded a 2014 NSERC Discovery Grant for his study titled "Advanced Strategies for Image Quality Improvement and Dose Reduction in CT" worth $35,000. Congratulations Dr. Jaffray!
