Welcome to UT DRO NEWS – the bi-monthly Radiation Oncology Newsletter! We are very excited to be rejuvenating this newsletter, in order to keep you up-to-date on news, announcements and events within our UT DRO community.
The past several months at UT DRO have been busy, exciting, and full of changes. In particular, June has been bustling, wherein 104 Medical Radiation Sciences (MRS) undergraduate students graduated from our flagship MRS program, equipped with a strong foundation and eager to begin their next endeavour. Similarly, our UT DRO Fellows and Residents garnered numerous international and national awards; as well, several grants, awards, accolades and honours were bestowed upon our Faculty. In particular, our previous Chair, Dr. Mary Gospodarowicz received a Lifetime Achievement Award from ESTRO and was appointed the first Canadian (and the first woman) to be appointed as the President of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC).
Clearly, we can take great pride of all the accomplishments within UT DRO. Please browse through this renewed newsletter, and feel free to send in your stories, announcements and achievements for the next issue. Any suggestions for improvements are always welcome.
Many thanks to everyone for your invaluable contributions to UT DRO; we wish you a great and safe summer!
Dr. Fei-Fei Liu, UT DRO Chair
