Created in 2014 in honour of Dr. Bernard J. Cummings, the Inaugural Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Toronto (UT-DRO), the Bernard J. Cummings Award for Research Excellence is given to a UT-DRO trainee who demonstrates sustained excellence in research, with potential for strong impact in the field of Radiation Medicine.
The Inagural Awardee is Dr. Danielle Rodin, a PGY-4 resident and Assistant Chief Resident in Radiation Oncology. Dr. Rodin received her MD from U of T in 2012 and a Master of Public Health from the TH Chan School of Public Health at Harvard University in 2015. She has published on a spectrum of research endeavours, ranging from clinical studies to global health, including 4 recent publications on global access to radiotherapy or surgery in Lancet Oncology.
