UTDRO Celebrates 25 Years at Annual General Meeting
On October 26, 2016, UTDRO faculty members and staff celebrated 25 years of the Department at the Annual General Meeting. Over one hundred people from the UTDRO community and Dean Trevor Young attended the celebratory dinner at the Faculty Club.
The hosts of the evening, Drs. Gerard Morton and Tom Purdie, started the evening with remembering Dr. Michael Sharpe, who passed away earlier this year. U of T Faculty of Medicine's Dean Trevor Young congratulated the Department on this milestone and highlighted how important UTDRO is to the medical community. UTDRO Chair Dr. Fei-Fei Liu also congratulated the community and shared some major milestones from the last 25 years. She also honoured Dr. Mary Gospodarowicz, UTDRO's second chair, with a portrait which will be installed in the UTDRO boardroom.
Three alumni from around the world sent in videos to congratulate UTDRO on this milestone anniversary.
Following the video, UTDRO's Vice-Chair, Clinical Affairs, Dr. Shun Wong shared updates on new appointments and promotions. Then, Dr. Rebecca Wong, Vice-Chair, Education, presented education awards to outstanding faculty members. Lastly, Dr. Mike Milosevic, Vice-Chair, Research, presented research awards.
